Shopping Habits: Men vs Women

Monday, July 18, 2016

From since the beginning of time, we have learnt that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. In other words, there are major differences that exist between the two genders and some of these traits are reflected in their shopping habits and overall attitude towards fashion. Certainly, this is true for Trinidadian men and women.

Firstly, men generally view shopping as  a chore. They go to the mall to get exactly what they need and try to do that in the shortest time possible. On the other hand, women view shopping as  a hobby or a pastime. As such, they go shopping for the sake of it. If they happen to come across something (or a lot of things) that they like they would buy it on the spot.

Additionally, it has been proven that women's shopping habits are part of their DNA. Therefore, their lifelong mindset dictates their buying patterns. Women tend to make purchases on an emotional level while men tend to buy based on facts and data.

Furthermore, women are more likely to look for bargains or sales to ensure that they are getting the best price for a product. In contrast, men are wiling to pay a little bit more for a product than women and are less likely to invest energy in comparing prices or finding available discounts.

Surprisingly, men are more loyal to brands while women are more loyal to good service. As a result, men are more likely to find a good brand they like and purchase it repeatedly. Women, however, take their service experience into consideration when deciding whether to buy a product again.

  1. I totally agree, if I receive good service I am more likely to purchase at that store again and and if I receive bad service, i'm not going back there... Plus, I love to shop around for a bargain which totally annoys my b/f.

  2. Never thought of it that way. I don't know if as a male I have brand loyalty or it's just that a particular brand happens to look better on me based on the fit. Not sure which it is
